The Reedy football team trailed at halftime Thursday night, but a strong third quarter helped the Lions take control in a 17-7 victory over Plano West at Toyota Stadium.
Coming off a 13-1 season but having to replace a lot of seniors, Reedy won its opener with the help of strong defense. Reedy allowed only 193 total yards, and Plano West scored its only touchdown on a long pass near the end of the first half.
In the third quarter, Reedy quarterback Jalen Kitna ran for a 1-yard touchdown and threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Zion Washington.
Reedy plays at The Colony next week as the nondistrict schedule continues.
