After a rainy week, the District 9-5A Cross Country Meet was run on a beautiful Friday morning befitting the hard work of all the athletes. Congratulations to the Reedy boys team and the Wakeland girls team for winning District titles.

Reedy’s Colleen Stegmann won the girls race in 17 minutes and 56 seconds, followed by Independence’s Brighton Mooney and Wakeland’s Mackenzie Davis. Frisco’s Kevin Curry won the boys race in 15:37 and was followed by Heritage’s Soham Patil and Wakeland’s Natnael Enright.

The Reedy girls and the Wakeland boys each finished second, meaning the full Reedy and Wakeland boys and girls teams qualified for the 5A Region 2 Cross Country Meet, which will be November 9 at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas. The Liberty boys team and the Independence girls team also qualified for the regional meet, along with the top 10 boys and top 10 girls individual finishers who are not part of the teams that qualified.
