Viars, a 6-foot-4 outfielder, was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 84th overall pick in the draft. Viars, who graduated from Reedy in May and will turn 18 later this month, was the 2021 District 9-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player.
“Honestly, it’s just surreal to me to think I get to go play professional baseball, and I have no idea what it looks like," Viars told the Dallas Morning News. "I don’t know what to expect, and I find that very exciting.”
