The Reedy football team improved to 2-0 on Thursday night by beating The Colony 33-24 -- and the Lions did it while also honoring a student from Cobb Middle School.
Evan Jurgensen, a sixth grader at Cobb, ran on to the field with the Reedy players at Ford Center. Evan, a two-time leukemia survivor & two-time bone marrow transplant recipient, also participated in the coin toss.
After the coin toss, Reedy and The Colony played a tight back-and-forth game that included Reedy's Matthew Hoots blocking two punts. Hoots' first punt block set up a first-and-goal for Reedy, and the second was blocked through the end zone for a safety, giving Reedy its final two points in the 33-24 win.
Michael Ferrara and Will Harbour each rushed for two touchdowns for Reedy, which plays its next game Friday, Sept. 14, at Lake Dallas.
